Cookie and ad tag notice
No ad cookie is written until you press Allow, and one press of Decline turns them all off.
We pay Google, Microsoft and Meta for ads, so people searching for an electrician in Chicago find us. This page lists every tag that can run here, what it stores, and the clock on each one.

Section 01
Effective date and what this notice covers
This notice takes effect on October 2, 2026, and was last amended the same day. It covers cookies and browser storage on electricserviceshomellc.co. The wider picture, what we keep from the inquiry form and the chat and for how long, sits in the privacy notice. This page is narrower and more literal: names, owners, lifetimes.
A cookie is a small text file a site asks your browser to keep. Local storage is the same idea without being sent back to the server on each request. We use both words below and mean exactly that.
Section 02
Three categories, one of them always on
Strictly necessary
The record of your choice, site_consent_v2, and the chat token that lets you come back to a conversation you started. Without the first, the banner would ask you on every page. Without the second, a half-finished question about a tripping breaker would vanish when you close the tab. Neither tracks you anywhere else, and neither is shared.
Analytics
Measurement of which pages get read and which ads lead to an inquiry. Governed by the analytics_storage signal. Off until you allow it.
Advertising
Conversion tags from Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and Meta. They tell the platform that a paid click ended in a real request for a panel upgrade or a repair, so we stop paying for clicks that never do. Governed by ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization. Off until you allow it.
Section 03
Every cookie and storage key, by name
Lifetimes are the maximum the setter asks for. Clearing your browser removes all of them sooner.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| site_consent_v2 | This site, local storage | Remembers Allow or Decline | 6 months |
| Chat token | This site, local storage | Reopens your support chat thread | Until cleared; transcript deleted after 6 months |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Links a click to a later inquiry | 90 days |
| _gcl_aw | Google Ads | Holds the gclid from an ad click | 90 days |
| _ga, _ga_* | Counts visits and pages read | Up to 13 months | |
| _uetsid | Microsoft Advertising | Ties the visit to an msclkid click | 1 day |
| _uetvid | Microsoft Advertising | Recognizes a returning browser for conversion counts | 13 months |
| MUID | Microsoft | Browser identifier used by Microsoft Advertising | 13 months |
| _fbp | Meta | Identifies the browser for Meta Ads measurement | 90 days |
| _fbc | Meta | Holds the fbclid from an ad click | 90 days |
Only the first two rows exist before you choose. Every row from _gcl_au down appears only after Allow.
Section 04
Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and Meta
This site takes paid traffic now. Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising send visitors who searched for things like "ev charger installation chicago" or "electrical inspection failed chicago". Meta Ads sends visitors when a campaign is running there.
Each platform adds a click identifier to the address you land on. Google Ads adds gclid. Microsoft Advertising adds msclkid. Meta adds fbclid. The identifier is a code for that click. It sits in the URL whether you consent or not, because the platform put it there before you arrived; what changes with your choice is whether a tag on this site stores it in a cookie and reports a conversion back.
No platform has reviewed or approved this site. We buy ads from them like any other advertiser.
Section 05
Consent Mode v2, signal by signal
Google Consent Mode v2 loads before any tag and sets four signals to denied:
ad_storage: whether ad cookies may be written.ad_user_data: whether data about you may be sent to Google for advertising.ad_personalization: whether that data may be used to tailor ads to you later.analytics_storage: whether measurement cookies may be written.
Press Allow and all four become granted. Press Decline, or withdraw later, and all four are set back to denied at once, on the page you are on. While denied, Google tags may send a cookieless ping that a page loaded, with no identifier attached. Microsoft and Meta tags are not loaded at all while denied.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, the four stay denied and the banner does not ask.
Section 06
How you give consent, and where to take it back
On your first visit a strip appears along the bottom of the screen with two buttons, Decline and Allow, of equal size. It never covers the page; you can read, scroll and send an inquiry without touching it. Nothing optional runs until you press one.
To change your mind, scroll to the footer of any page and press Cookie settings. The same strip opens with both buttons. Decline from there withdraws consent and resets all four signals to denied. Ad cookies already written stop being read and expire on their own clocks; clear them in your browser settings if you want them gone that minute.
After 6 months the record of your choice is dropped and the strip asks again.
Section 07
What still works if you decline
Everything you need. The services page, the inquiry form, the support chat and the phone number all work the same. A quote for a 200 amp service upgrade does not depend on a cookie.
What stops: no ad or analytics cookie is written, no conversion is reported to Google, Microsoft or Meta, and the platforms cannot use your visit to show you our ads elsewhere. The one cost is on our side. We cannot tell which ad brought you, so we ask on the phone instead.
Section 08
The platforms' own privacy documents
Once data reaches a platform, its own policy governs it. Read them directly:
- Google: policies.google.com/privacy, and how Google uses data from sites that run its tags at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Microsoft: the Microsoft privacy statement at privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
- Meta: facebook.com/privacy/policy.
Each also offers its own ad settings page where you can switch off personalized ads across every site, not just this one.
Section 09
